Is this celebrated much in the US? It's probably a stupid question, but I'm just wondering as since Good Friday my traffic has been significantly down.

Yes. The churches will be packed to overflowing. Many people who do not normally attend will make it for Easter and Christmas.

I was disappointed to find that they did not close my University on Good Friday. I am semi religious too. I don't attend church every Sunday but I make a point to get there a couple times a month. This didn't offend me but I am sure there were a few here who refused to come on Friday.

Yes, a lot of businesses close on Good Friday and many people travel to visit family over the long weekend.
