What are the best Affiliate programs or companies to deal with?

If I have a service or product that has a high profit margin, which affiliate would be the best to use?

I’ve read that if you want affiliates to use you. They should be given about 20% to 30% of a sale?

What are you opinions on percentages to pay people and affiliate programs?

Thanks, Tony.

Tony,

Sounds to me like you are asking which affiliate NETWORKS to work with?
You are a merchant and want to START an affiliate program???

CJ is the biggest and costs 5,000+ to set up.
Linkshare is also big and costs 10K to set up.

One of the best smaller affordable networks is www.shareasale.com
They only charge 350 set up and many affiliates prefer them due to their ethics.

As far as % it TOTALLY varies based on the type of product.
Retail products like shoes, clothes, luggage can be 5- 20%.
Computers and electronics are down around 2%.
Ebooks and digital products are 50 - 75% on average.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Must admit, I have dealth with quite a few affiliate programs and networks in my time and I will also vote for shareasale. They have a good user interface, they care about their affiliates, they pay on time, they allow you to easily grab their datafeeds, etc.

I have not been able to fault them yet.
