Does PR still do anything for a website or did Google completely drop it ?

+ are javascript/form links still usefull if PR doesn't really count anymore to rank pages ?

PR does still count I'm sure...

PR is still the core of Google's algorithm. Any ideas that it has been dropped are a result of an incomplete understanding of it in the first place.

Yeah well I just said it in another thread ... I've been reading so much lately that I have no idea what to believe anymore.

I think a wise man once said,

"Believe everything you hear half the time, and nothing that you hear all the time."

No, no, that wasn't it.

"Believe half of what you hear all the time, but never nothing that you hear half the time."

Hope that clears that up, at least half way.

It thought it was more something like

"You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all the pople all the time"

Depends who your "people" are!

I wouldnt believe any SEO unless it makes sense and I hear it from 2 or 3 people I recognise as experts... E.g. Chris.

Careful with the anchor text? Why?

Don't spam with the same anchor text... that it's someone said in other forums...

Well does new PR actually matter? I've noticed more than a couple people saying they've been upped to a PR 7, for example, with no changes in rankings. PR is still used, I'm sure, but does it currently matter if they're using old data? ("If" being the operative word.)

I don't think the SERPS update as much as PR, so that could be why.

And martinacastro, when you say spam with anchor text, how do you mean? Link to your homepage using the same text on everypage?

So if I SE spam all my competitors with the same anchor text I'll go up in the rankings? That wouldnt work.

If you cant control it, it cant put your SERP results down.
