Spell Checker For Word

Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can download a spell checker for Microsoft Word? For some reason it doesn't seem to be installed in the version I'm using...

Really? Never heard of that. It is such an integral part of the software. Very odd.

I think the problem is because I installed it from an Office cd, and left out everything else. I already had programs to do the jobs that Excel etc do, so I only installed word from it. I did custom installation so I'm wondering if I missed the spell check part there.

You may have. Spell check has always been a big part of Word.

If for whatever reason the version you have didn't come with spell check, OpenOffice is a decent alternative.

Run the Office Installation again and double check that that option is installed. It may be one of those things that says "install from cd on first use" or something like that.

Also File>Tools>Options>Spelling & Grammer> and make sure the spellcheck option is checked and that there is a dictionary in the "custom dictionaries" option.
