Movie websites promoting movies get up to the top 3 in no time at all, and their sites are mostly flash. How do they do it?

Ya think of all the personal blogs out there done by movie lovers. Plus all the movie portal sites, trailer archives, and other news sites that link to the official website for the given movie.

If you think about it, a major movie will be linked to from not only its makers website(s) but a lot of news/entertainment websites and a lot of bloggers. As Chris said, a lot of links and a fair few ones that are high PR.

These sites are preloaded and then have so many people linking to them plus the internal organizations themselves linking - example Disney owns ESPN - disney releases a movie and has many links from ABC and ESPN linking to the domain creating an instant powersite...... are you wanting to create a national movie site, individual movie site, or a local movie directory ?

No, but thanks for asking. I'm just a curious person and like to know how things work.
