Social Bookmarking buttons?

How do these work?

Do I have to register with each of the sites I want to use before I can put their button on my site, or can I just put them on?

I looked through a couple of sites, but couldn't find any information.

Signup at FeedBurner *Thanks Chris* and they provide code and images for each one.... this makes it easy + then you can track subscriptions.

Apologies if that has been mentioned before on here - sometimes I search for totally the wrong thing if I don't fully understand.

Well FeedBurner is what Chris suggests to track subscriptions to your feeds it's a great statistics tool.

I then was adding all the bookmarking buttons myself and saw that feedubrner has * most * of them for you + it uses your feedburner feed instead of your sites so it also keeps track of that stuff too.

Works great :)
