Benefits of adding a Classifieds Area ?

I think im in the right niche ... for a classifieds script to be added to the website but it seems like alot more trouble than its worth.

One thing im sure will happen is fraud between the buyers and sellers which we have no control over other than charging for the actual listings which i dont plan on doing i dont see no monetary benefits of this other than maybe some user submitted content by visitors posting ads.

Any opinions ?

I think it'd be hard to do, you'd be competing against places like Ebay.

Maybe it'd be better to keep it slow and simply add a marketplace section of your forums at first.
