I put a little hack in that prevents a "guest" on my vB board from seeing more than 3 posts, they get a message telling them they must register too see more.

Could this hurt search engine rankings particularly with Google?

I have the vB archive enabled and the entire thread can be viewed there.

You're taking away possible content and hiding it from the search engines. not really a good thing.

You could always make the hack not apply to the google crawler.
