I am developing an adult personals site for the UK market and I am not sure what my best course of action should be.

The name of the site is Intimate Connect and I have registered the domain names intimateconnect.com, intimate-connect.com and adult-personals-uk.com. I am now trying to decide what domain name I should use for the site.

Adult-personals-uk.com is keyword rich so is a good choice, but would I get just as good search engine results using ‘Intimate Connect – Adult Personals UK’ in the title attribute for all my links using the domain name intimateconnect.com.

So the choices are:

Site name: Intimate Connect
Tag name / strap-line: Adult Personals UK
Domain name: intimateconnect.com
Title attribute for links: Intimate Connect – Adult Personals UK

Site name: Intimate Connect
Tag name / strap-line: Adult Personals UK
Domain name: adult-personals-uk.com
Title attribute for links: Intimate Connect – Adult Personals UK

Is one choice better than the other?

Many thanks,
David

intimateconnect.com

branding yourself to a domain is more important than keywords .... in the long run... for returning visitors

Yes I would prefer to use itimateconnect.com from a marketing and branding point of view, but I will receive the majority of my visitors through search engines. If using adult-personals-uk.com instead of intimateconnect.com will increase my rankings on the search engines, it is worth consideration.

But like I said, I am leaning towards intimateconnect.com...

Intimateconnect.com is best for branding. Once people join it's important they remember the site. Intimateconnect.com is easy to remember.

Also, have you considered registering the .co.uk domain? It would help your ranking in google.co.uk I would have thought.

I don't think it would help his ranking in google.co.uk actually. It doesn't matter what the end part of the domain is for search engines.

Yes I had registered initmateconnect.co.uk as well and will point it at intimateconnect.com.

Thanks for your comments guys. I think I will go with intimateconnect.com as it seems I won't lose much in my SEO.

If you're doing UK only I'd use the .co.uk domain.

Also the domain is less important than what people use to link to your site (your site name).

Your site name should be keyword rich.

IntimateConnect has no keywords in it.

Intimate Personals
4 UK Personals
4 Adult Personals

Any of those would have been better.

You don't need to have all your keywords in your domain, but one is better than none. The most important word is probably "personals" and so that is the one you really need to target.

Do the keywords have to be in the site name, or could you place them in the strap-line?

For example "Intimate Connect - Adult Personals" and make sure to always include the strap-line when linking to the site.

The people who link to you will not always follow your recommendations for link text.
