i'm wanting to get one for a coming road trip. i've heard that the inexpensive ones don't work so well ($25 dollar range). has anyone had any experience with any of these? i don't have an input jack on the car stereo so i'm needing one.

My mother has a monster one I believe? I think it was around $35 and it works fine! Hell, the IPOD normaly sits 1-3ft away from the radio!
If your radio is old school it may have a tape player and they make those too.

nope, it's a cd player. otherwise i would have done that. one day, i'm hoping to get a stereo with a mini jack in front.
do you by chance know the brand/model of your mother's?

I've got a standard iTrip and it works fine sitting in the back.
My Dad has a different iTrip that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket and charges the ipod at the same time and is very very clear.
