Hey right now my home page is a PR3,

im going to be doing a complete redesign of site, making a new home page from scratch, this wont affect my PR on the front page or will it?

As long as the URLs for your site remain the same (e.g. http://example.com/index.html) then the change will have no affect on your PR.

Yep, PR is assigned to URLs not pages as such.

For example,

www.Hotclubber.com
Hotclubber.com
www.Hotclubber.com/index.php

might all show your homepage, but they will have different PR, because they are different URLs. It just your server returns the same HTML for each version.

Ignore PR, its meaningless, even Jon aka Mook-Jon agrees with me on this.

What you need to be concerned about on a redesign is actual search engine rankings. If you are getting no to few organic listings right now, no big deal. Whatever you do make sure your redesign is search engine friendly.

Also you can use 301 redirects to redirect old URLs to the new location.

no it shouldn't however make sure that the search engine crawls it before by linking it in your siteMAP
