Do you guys know that big forum I've talked about but never mentioned? It turns out that there is a member there who needs a kidney transplant -- well needed one. He told everyone about this a month or two ago; I find out today that another member that he met through the forum is donating his kidney to him! The good news for you guys is that I may actually publicly reveal the name of this site because of this.

This just blows me away.. this site isn't even 6 months old. In the decade I've been on the web I have never seen or heard of someone getting an organ transplant from someone they met online. I'm sure its happened, but damn, I never thought a site I built could have this kind of impact.

Amazing! You know, you could do a press release about that and it would probably get picked up all over the place - if you wanted to :D

Ditto press release. First make sure it isn't a hoax though.

I'm convinced its not a hoax, this is a forum for professionals, so I have real names, faces, and locations behind both of the guys. In fact the one getting the transplant is one of my two moderators. He actually asked me permission if he could use the site's name in press releases he was going to send out because they need to raise money to cover the donor's expenses since he will be out of work for about a month.

I'm saying this is good for you guys because you will be able to look over the site and figure out how I work. This forum is about 5 months old and has 3,400 members.. the growth was a real shocker to me, but to me personally, this has so much more meaning. I'm not a very charitable guy, hell I didn't even sign my drivers licence as an organ donor. This may change that.

Wow, this is awesome!

It should get you some publicity, but you don't seem to really need it.

I'd def go with the press release and would even recommend a member here (shyflower). She did one for us just recentl and it was awesome. I will continue to use her services for future press releases.

Hey, dunno if this is just coincidence, but in Toronto, a random stranger just donated part of his liver to a boy. Has gotten lots of attention. Trend starting?

cool.
