What can I do to find out if my site has been banned/penalized or not by a search engine?
Thanks a lot!

What about MSN tool for this purpose?
Where is this tool based on/it does do the same like "site: www.mysite.com"?

I guess it just checks whether its indexed or just buried. Or maybe compares that to other attributes. I'm not really sure.

Or you could just type the following into Google. Site:yourdomain.com
If it doesn't show up in the search results then you are most likely to have either been banned or your site didn't get crawled properly due to it being down or something or you have stopped the robots going to your site by mistake by doing something wrong in the robots.txt file or something.

Hey relax Michel Z search engines will not ban your site unless you are doing blackhat SEO. They do drop alot of sites way down their SERPs but then your sites will come back.
