View Full Version : PR is updating.

11-17-2003, 10:59 PM
Well, it is. Sort of.

My website shows a PR of 6 (Yesterday my PR was 0). A PR of 6 is probably around what it might be when the PR updates, since I have a link from a site with a PR of 8.

But the catch is: Only my friend in California and one other person I have asked can see the PR. I can't. Other people I've asked can't. Only two people. We've experimented to see if it was a "normal" toolbar glitch, but the PR remains.

What could this be? Datacenters not updating? Could it be a "new" glitch?

Gee, I hope it is a PR update. My sites should have PR6's aswell since my sites are getting spidered by the Googlebot daily.

It's official.

Im not sure if i should be glad or sad !!!! Gotta start somewhere

A PR of 4 for a site of your age is great. Keep up the great work.

Im a bit confused is google giving me a pr4 based on the the data collected last time googlebot visited my site ? Because since than i have updated alot and got more incoming links.

Also another question is when will google start showing my backlinks ?

Just an update. One of my sites, shows a PR5. The others don't show any PR update yet.

I got a PR of 9 on these forums because of a glitch...

11-18-2003, 12:35 AM
Well, PR is showing up many new places for many people.

If it's not the start of a PR update, I don't know what it is.

If it is it might be able to read flash, and if it does now read flash my websites PR will increase dramatically...

11-18-2003, 05:10 AM
Well, no changes for me yet.

11-18-2003, 05:13 AM
Shawn, I'm getting PR6 for your site too. I'm in the UK.

I've also noticed that my backlinks have updated. Maybe my PR will follow?

11-18-2003, 06:30 AM
See Shawn, you didn't even need my link.

11-18-2003, 08:34 AM
You're right, Chris :)

With this new PR so soon, I'm going to dominate my small little field. I will tie and/or beat my top 3 competitors with this PR. I'll at least jump ahead of all the spam sites.

Now, it's just a question of when the PR will be updated for everyone and when will it be factored into search results.

11-18-2003, 09:48 AM
I can't see any changes for my site:(

Surely there should be more backward links from here...

11-18-2003, 09:52 AM
I've been at the PR of 4 for ages... No matter how hard I try I can't get it to increase...

And alot of the pages on my site have PR of 2 even though I have 0 external links...

11-18-2003, 10:20 AM
My site only shows a couple of backlinks from here.

11-18-2003, 11:22 AM
It hasn't finished updating yet. My site sometimes shows backlinks, sometimes doesn't, then it does again etc etc...

I am pointing my toolbar to an updated datacenter (thanks Chris) and your site is a PR of 4. Yahoo is now a 9 :)

How do you do that?

I also couldn't understand which site of mine you were refering to as I hadn't published any in my sig. Then I find my freelance business site has the PR of 4 resulting from these forums. Must be through my profile. Wasn't expecting that at all! Haha :)

I can't see pagerank because IE isn't working and I'm forced to use ****ing netscape.

11-18-2003, 01:47 PM
Yeah how do you point your toolbar to an updated datacenter?

11-18-2003, 01:51 PM
How to you get the toolbar in netscape?

11-18-2003, 04:37 PM
Chris showed me this: toolbarqueries.google.com

Add that to your hosts file, which is located at: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

X Q mano

The toolbar is only for IE

11-18-2003, 07:33 PM
I added the hostname, by nothing happened.....

11-18-2003, 07:34 PM
Or, I added that line of code to my hosts file...

11-19-2003, 12:41 AM
Why isn't IE working on my computer?

11-19-2003, 09:44 AM
Thanks Shawn.

Unfortunately my PR has gone down to a 4:( Looks like I will have to do another design, without the drop down menu this time.

11-19-2003, 11:48 AM
Poor Mike...

Mine is stable... And I have gained a few more WP links in the last few days...

But I have nowhere near as many as you...

11-19-2003, 11:49 AM
BTW... I've got IE working now... But it just started working for no reason...

11-19-2003, 11:52 AM
I'm not that bothered really, it gives me an exuse to make a new design all in css. Also it wont take long as I'm just going to make an automatic script to create the code for the categories.

11-19-2003, 12:13 PM
Well, I didn't like the design you were using too much so it gives me an chance to see your new design...

11-19-2003, 04:05 PM

Why did you scrape your old URL's? They were all PR of 4...

11-20-2003, 09:30 AM
As I needed to use a bit of PHP with them, and the others were just .htm pages.

11-20-2003, 12:52 PM
Yeah, but you also went down from like 90 backlinks, to 42...
