I'm looking for Free Royalty Free Images...

I've only found www.freeimages.co.uk and I need more because it doesn't have the images I need...

The best one I know of is: www.sxc.hu most of the pictures there are free for commercial use but you have to register first ( it's free though ).

The usage restriction is given under each picture ... it's the only stockphoto site I've used since I know it.

I use SXC a lot. I think it's the best one out there. Make sure you do read the restrictions though.

I've found an ace image on SXC, I've photoshoped it into my logo, and all I have to do now is the email the photographer to say what site I am using it on.

I know it isn't ethical (or legal), but you can use gettyimages.com. You could just crop off the "getty images" watermark they have on each image (it's usually on the corners, so if take an image with a solid color background, you could remove the watermark). I've never done it myself but I've seen people on other forums do it.

La La La... Legal Action... La La La... Massive company sues... La La La...

Mike

I wouldn't do the gettyimages trick, they've reportedly sued TemplateMonster.com for using some of their pics in templates illegally.

I know that's a big company, but still...

I wouldn't risk that either. Not that I have any money they could get out of me even if they did sue :)

At least they didn't sue all the resellers, hey Mike :)

It was just a rumour.

Are there any other good ones and free for commercial use? I'm currently using SXC but they do not have some I need.

I found this one recently. It's extremely good in terms of quality! http://www.istockphoto.com

Not totally free, but only $1 per download and there are some beautiful pictures on there!

Please tell me you're joking ;) If not, try taking a look at somewhere like corbis where you'll easily pay $70+

Uh. It's 50 cents for a picture, not $1. I've used them for years.

Sorry, yeah you're right. I've only used my free credits so far, so I wasn't too sure.

Woah that's pretty cheap. Also free sites don't seem to explain the usage very well, I would have thought they would.

I would not suggest using the gettyimages trick
There is a software by Adobe which actually puts in watermark all over the image which is invisible to the human eye. Rumour is that these watermarks even sustain scanning.

Check out http://imageblowout.com. Another site with free images launched very recently

is it yours?

dixvix

it is....i am constantly upgrading it and also planning to open a download section where zip files of 15 images will be available based on category. It has been up only since last 23 days and all images have been captured by me

Don't even waste your time using pictures you don't have rights to, photographs or otherwise. In a previous life I was an artist -- rip off an image and eventually the owner is going to find out.

I personally prefer to take my own photographs. I know its impossible for many situations (ie: need picture of lion), but when it is, I do it.

If there is a good hobby for a web master or web designer to have, its photography.
