I've heard it mentioned that private advertisers in general pay more than say CPM, CPC advertising. If I have a site running, how do I a) source private advertisers, and b) price the advertising space?

Do I price the space proportional to say site traffic? What is a fairly common rate?

Am I looking at this the wrong way?

Thanks,
Tim

It would definately be proportional to the site traffic. The more potential clicks an advertiser may get, the more they will pay.

So do you have any idea what rates I should be looking at? eg. $ per view/visitor, etc. Does anyone have an approximation?

I can't help you with the rates, sorry. You may want to look around at other sites who are doing the same and see what they are charging. Check to see what thier traffic is if they make that public. Im sure by tomorrow someone else will have a better answer than me to you question on here. It's a little late right now.

Alot of peopley take their adsense eCPM and multiply by 1.5 to 2.0 Generally I think it's a good rule to follow.

When selling direct advertising I generally set the rates above what I make for the same spot from my ad networks, but below what the advertiser would have to pay the network for the same ad. (Basically somewhere between the CPM and eCPM from the networks.) This takes out the middle-man and both the advertiser and the publisher benefit.

To simplify things I usually sell for a flat monthly fee rather than trying to keep track of uniques or clicks.
