As a whole of all your sites how much bandwidth are you using ?
for me

1 site barely 2 gigs =)

280 megs this month so far. That's pretty amazing considering I have about 8 small images on my entire site, which is only a month old.

Not even 1gb...

Mike

So far this month: 86.90MB:P

But I don't think anything is working on my hosting account at the moment. None of the stats aren't working, so it wouldn't surprise me.

Around 200GB/month.

In October: 4.690569 GB from only 6365 unquie visitors and only 31823 pageviews... (and I've almost ranked that amount up already this month and it's only just gone halfway through it!)

I'm probably around where Mark is. I don't add up bandwidth usage for all my sites (or even pay much attention to it). I have 1.4 terabytes available so I'm not close to reaching my limit.

incka

Too me 1.4 TB is £3584

Chris
11-16-2003, 02:24 PM
You're paying too much then.

I get 1.4 TB + 2 servers for ~ $270 a month.

I think my host is better for low bandwidth sites... Because Mike would have a 400% less hosting cost if he used mine...

I'm probably around 40-60 gigs right now, I don't really keep track of it though, as I have plenty to spare.

Chris, who do you host with?

And what kind of servers are you using?

That price is pretty bloody awesome.

Yes but my hosting account allows a lot of domains to be hosted on it, so I'll just put other sites on it when they get made.

Besides, $100 a year for 7.5GB bandwidth a month, reliable servers, good support, 100 databases, and 350MB space is a pretty good deal in my opinion.

I suppose it is...

But at the moment you need to put more sites on...

Mike

I will do when I'm ready:)

My servers are through Rackshack (ev1servers).

I realised that this morning - I'd forgotten they offer 1TB+ servers now.

How do you find their service? I understand that they don't offer managed or semi-managed servers?

Chris

I'm pleased with rackshack. They actually do more than most people think.

If your server is down (or you can't access it) they'll fix it. They'll reboot if you need it. Etc

Do they have emergency generators? And are all the serves on 100MBIT lines?

Chris
11-18-2003, 09:56 AM
They have emergency generators.

They have multiple gigabit connections from what I can tell.

That's a broad generalization if I've ever seen one. If you want to base the quality of a host just because it happens to be in a geographical location you dislike, go for it I guess.

I'm fine with theLondon data center I'm using...

I'm getting annoyed...

I'm using about 7gb a month and it's costing me about £20...

I'll need to put ads on soon... With yesterdays Page Views, and if I carry on with that amount, I'll have 82,000 PV's a month... So I suppose it's almost ready for ads...

Mike
11-23-2003, 09:54 AM
Why don't you just move to another host? In my opinion your getting ripped off. It costs be $100 a year for 7.5GB bandwidth a month.

incka
11-23-2003, 10:29 AM
I'm moving to your host, but on a bigger plan, when I have at least 1 other site ready to go online.

One question though... Is it easy to upgrade between plans?

Mike
11-23-2003, 10:35 AM
They say it is, but I've never had to. Just a warning, support hasn't been good over the last month.

incka
11-23-2003, 10:38 AM
Why would you need support?

Easily are good at support and you usually get an non-automated reply within 20 minutes.

I now have a reseller account at lighningservers.net. $24 per month. 25GB per month.

You might also try dathorn.com. Only $13.50 per month for reseller account, 30GB bandwidth, 2GB storage.

The low price actually scared me a bit ao I went with lightning servers instead :) Though, LS are faster too.

incka
11-23-2003, 11:54 AM
Thanks for that!

I'll look at them both...

I think I might get the dathorn one...

Well what if something goes wrong? You don't just sit back and watch, you contact them.

Perhaps Easily are good at support, but if they don't offer what you need then that doesn't really matter.

There were a couple of decent looking hosts posted here a month or two ago. They sounded too good to be true though...

Dathorn looks like the one for me...

chromate

Dathorn has a good forum that's quite active with other people hosting their sites there. Also has regular posts from the owner, Andrew, about upgrades etc.

incka
11-23-2003, 02:42 PM
I'll read it...

Know any other cheap ones?

One problem is that they don't allow any adult content unless something about the server is swutched, and my site has games like boom boom volleyball on it...

chromate
11-23-2003, 02:51 PM
Errmmm... not too sure about adult content. I found those two on webhostingtalk.com so you could ask in there about it.

incka

I'm not going to become a traitor by going to another webmaster forum!

Mike
11-23-2003, 03:43 PM
I wouldn't call boom boom volleyball as a adult content;)

My host does not allow adult content, but they don't mind about adult templates. You'll be fine with them.

An active forum with an owner like that sounds promising as well.

i wouldnt go to dathorn they run phpmyexuc or something like that its annoying and alot of clients left because they installed that on their servers. I would try vshosting.net a uk based reseller hosting company.

Only jailed SSH access though. They were quite blunt when I asked them about it too.

Now my host is far more friendly. They were doing a server upgrade last night which involved a few minutes downtime. To quote part of their email:

"If you need someone to yell at, I'm around at removed@lightningservers.net for the duration of this. :)"

fast friendly service.

Mike
11-25-2003, 09:36 AM
Certainly is:)

My first host didn't even contact me when they did something like that. In fact, I once emailed them about it and they answered:

"The server will be down for around two hours every Saturday afternoon"

Now that's what I call good up time;)

The UK one has granenteed uptime...

It's not as cheep but the uptime seems a selling point...

Anyone know any more ones like this?

I'm using about 300 GB and rising fast. I need to move quick - my host reams me for over usage. I've been shopping around for a power server - dual processors, 2 GB Ram etc. Seems that theplanet.com has some good deals.

Anyone here have a site that produces high server loads and uses a lot of BW? Are you happy with your host?
