I need your opinions on this.

www.wirelessphonereviews.com

Check out the navigation at the top. I don't like it like that -- it's a horrible flow for site usability and I'm getting an increasingly amount of clicks on my banner, so I know people are there. I think the navigation is hurting people from finding the reviews.

This is what I am thinking of changing the navigation to:

Articles | Service Plans | Reviews | Phones | Glossary

The articles and glossary is pretty easy to explain, the glossary has wireless terms and the articles have random articles about wireless phones and such. With service plans, reviews, and phones -- regardless of which one they select, once they reach the first page after clicking on the nav there will be a list of the 7 wireless companies that I list. Once they select the wireless company, they'll be able to see the options for it (service plans, reviews, and phones, etc.).

I really want to go with this navigation because of it's flexibility, I won't have to have subnavigation on every single page like I do now. It'll also be very convienent for the user, as they won't have to go and hunt for each wireless companies' options, they will be all right there in front of them.

Thoughts? Ideas?

I like this sites layout and the fact that you haven't overloaded the home page with links / content.

Regarding the top navigation I feel your text size is too small (reviewing it on a 1024/768 screen) - without checking it looks like its set at the same size as your pages copy (all be it bold) - would be a good move to make it stand out more by enlarging it a point or two.

Sounds good.

Great placement with the Adsense banner but it does force down your footer with no copy in-between for the various companies index pages - have you considered adding the main nav to your footer?

I am currently experimenting with the text of the nav - most likely I'll increase it.

Actually, the footer isn't pressed down by the AdSense banner. The page is already 100% in height with a top/bottom margin, so it doesn't matter if the banner is there or not -- the footer will be in the same spot on each page (unless content forces it down, of course). The AdSense banner will never move, because my clickthrough rate is unbelievable (4-5%).

Thanks.

you may want to consider the fact that the not so obvious navigation placement may be helping your google clickthrough rate

Um. No offense, but probably not.

Or, more reastically, it could be because the people going to my website are looking to purchase cell phones instead of learning about them. Therefore, they select a link where they can purchase items instead.

I love the way the menu is set out, but I agree that you should change it to what you said. Also the text size is a little small for me (800x600).

Mike, I am doing that now. It's going to take a couple of days, but once it's done, it'll rock.

You still need to change the text on this page to "Nextel Reviews" Nextel Coverage" etc

Chris, that page isn't going to exist.

By the way, everyone go and submit a review :)

i think chris is talking about the anchor text

btw do you realize that whenever you have more than 5 reviews, the link to the next 5 reviews is broken

Yes, KDB, I know what Chris was talking about. Did you not see my post DIRECTLY under it?

And those pages will not exist either, as companies will no longer have their own section. What will exist, though, is www.wirelessphonereviews.com/reviews/ , which is operating fine.
