I've just been accepted as a publisher for Gorilla Nation.. anyone know much about these guys?

We still have yet to work out terms and contract, but I just want to make sure they are as good as they say.. Their minimums are at 1M impressions a month minimum, so I'm guessing their payouts are top notch. Unfortuantely the rep told me they won't be able to pull a 100% fill rate on my inventory, so I guess TF is my secondary.. Wow, never thought I'd be writing that!

This is the second network you've mentioned Jon that I've never heard of (Atlas and now Gorilla Nation). Both probably serve to the elite in terms of impressions so that is probably for good reason.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you learn of these networks? I don't have anything to offer here but I'd love to hear how they work out for you.

I've only ever heard good things about Gorilla Nation. Not many people, including myself, can talk authoritvely on them though, pretty hard to get in from what I've been told.

Congrats!

Does GN still focus exclusively on entertainment-type sites? I always heard good things about them. Except that their run of network ads pay very low... but if they can sell your inventory with targeted campaigns the payouts are great. Never used them myself.

GN used to focus on only entertainment sites (don't know if they still do) they also used to require exclusivity (obviously they don't anymore) and they're somewhat small (publishers measured in hundreds, not thousands).

If you end up using them it'd be cool if you could write a review.

wait... still exclusive

Gorilla Nation Media requires that it is the exclusive party selling a site's media direct to agencies or brand-related adevtisers (i.e., not advertisers buying media on a run of network basis as with ad networks).

I actually asked them about that, and they said since they can't do the 100% fill rate, it's fine to use TF and Casale on there too. I'm just still kinda shocked that I now have TF as a secondary and not a primary, lol.

I'll definitely write a review on them after some months of using them. The guy I spoke to threw out some numbers like $10 CPM, so if that's actually true, I almost wet myself with joy.

Heh, ya. Of course if I had a nickle every time some ad network rep told me some huge number to get me to sign up....

Yeah, entertainment type sites include gamer sites and tech related sites too I hear. From what I gathered, most of their advertisers are movie studios with deep pockets and freakishly large budgets.

I just do searches for them on Google, or a lot of times, when I'm doing my market research, I'll stumble upon some new ad networks from looking at competitor's websites.

I talked to one of their reps a long time ago, when they were less than a year old, and even then the exclusivity agreement seemed negotiable. Although I never ended up using them at that time (I was sold out with inhouse buys so couldn't commit any decent amount of impressions).

They are friendly and cooperative to talk to, and I've only really heard good things about them really.

We have used gorilla nation for about 3 years. Basically if you are not going to be on their "tier one" list then forget it. They are great for targeted campeigns where you can make thousands a week. They can be sketchy and we have sent back quite a few exclusive contracts they proposed (they sell all our inventory and even leads from our site) Many contracts they have sent us that were bad deals where we would have been severly ripped off. Basically be cautious give them a few months trial where they sell your site as a tier one before signing anything. Also be sure that they will be actively pitching your site to their clients. They are better than tribal if you are on their hot site list. We use them before tribal.

Thanks for the insight, I'll definitely keep that in mind.

Very good network provided: you run leaderboards/wide skyscrapers/squares, are on an exclusive contract and are in an area they specialise in. We get lots of targeted campaigns with them, but they never show up because we are sticking with the smaller advert sizes. :(

Jon what is your feedback since you have used them for awhile? DId you get stuck exclusive and did the cpms perform as they indicated? I ask because they approached me last week about having me join their program and see prettly legit. Although I dont like the exclusive contract terms.
