Google isn't showing all the backlinks.

The literature site links to the Amazon coupons globally or semi-globally.

Actually the toolbar is stale. All my literate links have been rel=nofollow for a few months (and in that time my rankings have increased, if you can believe that). That should drop to a 6.

However... I've gotten a PR7 from 1 backlink before. I also got my web template site to a 7 with it's first update. It really isn't hard if you have a lot of PR from other sites.
