If you can get a link or two up on an already well established site you don't have to submit it.

Don't waste time to submit website to search engine, just get more backlinks.
I never submit any page to search engine, but index my homepage in 2-5 days when I launch a new site.

I agree with Organ. Just submitting to search engines will not help much. I would suggest you should exchange links as much you can. You should submit to the diectories as well. However, you should submit to the top search engines. You should visit top 10 search engines list here. :) http://www.seoconsultants.com/search-engines/

I agree! Don't use submission software as it is against their webmaster guidelines. Just get backlinks to your site and you should be fine.

What is best way to make backlinks? Do you mean exchanging links?

The best way would be to submit to free web directories, write articles with your link contained within it, etc.

Submit your site to all the directories on my list (http://www.directorycritic.com)
