This could be a good thread! I realised a little while back how much better I work when my desk is nice and tidy. I like it kind of minimalist but it always ends up with junk piled up all over the place. Seems the clearer my workspace is, the clearer I'm able to think and it's easier to get focused. I'm rearranging things at the moment, but when I'm done I'll post a pic here.

I'll post it soon. I have OCD, so it helps.

My office is a mess, since we just moved house (ok, about 6 weeks ago) and it's being used as a junk room. Mind you, it was a junk room at the old place, too :)

I had to turn my office into a nursery for the baby so it is actually really tidy, just not very officy at the moment - have laptop and wireless internet so will work anywhere is the current moto

hahaha same here...I like the modern minimalist look, but most of the time theres so many random papers paying around your can only see the keyboard and mouse and thats it!

I've got cords not connected to everything scrawled around and pulling on cords that are connected to stuff in the back end of everything. Then I've got a portion of desk so small that I had to remove my computer's siding to fit the monitor in it. To my left is a bookshelf with approximately 300+ books and magazines on it, and a row of it dedicated to my papers and garbage. Behind me are about 4 monitors, 5 printers, 3 computer towers, 2 bookshelves with random books and garbage, and masses of product boxes which are eternally kept. It's very messy, but I don't have a camera.

No pics? I was really hoping to see some. For some strange reason I find it very interesting to see other peoples' work areas.

I'm in the middle of moving so I thought I'd wait until I got everything settled in the new office before posting a pic, but I'll go ahead and post a pic of the old office to try to kick things off here: http://ojj.us/pics/oldoffice.jpg

Note that it's a little neater than usual because we were trying to sell our house at the time it was taken. My new office is currently a huge mess of boxes and junk waiting to be unpacked and set up, but I'll take a picture and post it just as soon as I figure out which of the boxes my camera is in. Maybe I'll post a before and after picture once I get it all set up.

Here's mine

Looking toward the frontyard (http://www.imgtank.com/hpics/show.php?img=125542myoffice2861.jpg)

Looking toward the backyard (http://www.imgtank.com/hpics/show.php?img=216839myoffice163.jpg)

Very messy am in the middle of cleaning up, selling crap, and removing that folding table that I use to repair computers on!

Oh and that DELL on the floor by my desk is NOT the computer I use it's my girlfriends OLD one I am storing there until I get time to back it all up and re-install Windows to make that computer a backup/media station.

What's that *SNIP* did you change what you said?

Pool may seem nice but it's a lot of upkeep and about $65 amonth in electricity. If I was to buy a new house I would not have a pool. We live 5 minutes from Folsom Lake, and 5 minutes from Lake Natoma (american river damned up).

James

Haha damned up :)

Wow, having those lakes near your house must be pretty nice (other than maybe a bit higher levels of fog, and a bit colder than without). Are they good lakes? Our closest lake is a 15 minute drive, is tiny, and is coated with goose crap :P You have to go for a 3 hour drive up to Lake of the Woods if you want a really nice one.

Folsom is a nice lake to go out and boat/ski/wakeboard jet-ski/sea-doo on. It's very crowded on the weekend.. I think I remember reading it has one of the most populated areas AROUND a lake. Not only this but over the last 5 years it's now become the "cool" thing to own a boat, 5+ years ago only ski'`rs, etc had boats now it's just a hangout for anyone wtih money for a boat. ALl in all I love the lake so we get out there as much as possible. The other lake is basicaly just a dam`d river, it's coming from the bottom of FOLSOM so it's VERY Cold and you can only go 5mph on it.. it's basically for fishing and canoeing only.

Ugh.. My new office is still a mess! I ordered a new desk for it 3 weeks ago, and it's still not in yet. Should be in "any day." I've been hesitant to try to set up and organize the place because I know I'll just have to redo everything once the desk comes in. Now I'm thinking that maybe I should have just set it up with the old stuff anyway!

Should have expected you to be a mac user *bash*

I like how you have a disgusting amount of dust up top, and a bunch of skulls alongside some twizzlers. As well as having loads of pills to your left, and karate kid on your right with a toilet paper roll beneath it.

Mac = High quality.
Windows = Low, cheap, crummy quality with daily E-Mail viruses. *ducks* :D:D

Get quality, get da Apple!!!

Mac's aren't high quality; they're outdated out of the box, and crash consistently.

Nintendo, you scare me. Thanks for posting anyway ;)

... Oh and macs. Don't get me started! Soon no one will bother with them. I've never seen a decent reason for using a mac. Don't they use Intel chips now anyway? My girlfriend used one for graphic design just because it's an industry standard over here. Can't stand them. Anyway, It broke and now she's waiting for a PC. Phew. :)

Chris
01-27-2006, 12:38 PM
eventually mac will be just a brand of pc.

James
01-27-2006, 09:51 PM
All Mac will be is (maybe) a tower, and an OS. Its too expensive for them to continue building their own computers, which is why they charge basically double the price of a PC.

So who's upgraded, moved or changed their office?

I've moved and recently upgraded and plan to move and upgrade again during Fall of this year :ladysman:

Pic #1 (http://www.uploads.biz/hpics/show.php?img=6199972673.jpg)

Pic #2 (http://www.uploads.biz/hpics/show.php?img=8210231579.jpg)

I'm planning a lil blog post on office setup and storage, crap etc ;)

Todd W
05-11-2007, 11:51 PM
Oh, and before anyone says it yes I know I need the corner piece for the desk

Future plans also include a 60" desk for PC setup or the 72" model as the 48" is crammed wtih my printer and two monitors. Also future plans are for a third monitor, more space = good.

I am good at being organized as long as I don't have to work forever at it so more room = more spots to have file cabinets, etc ;)

It's got 3 garbage bags full of empty cans in one corner of the room, a guitar for each of the other corners, that blue cup on the right is from last fall when I had my wisdom teeth removed, and all sorts of other garbage and total crap I neither need, nor want.

And this is after cleaning it up a bit.

Nice setup you've got there, Andy
