View Full Version : Lycos affiliate scheme

I recently found an affiliate scheme which took off no end.
Usaully I had earnt about £1 a day (about $1.50) which was not really good enough.

www.Lycos.com pay £0.02 for every search. I found a way that I could make the users of www.cheatextreme.com search using Lycos.

I simply created a web page that was specifiaclly created to raise money. I achieved a high ranking in google by including the keywords. In my case - " Pro Evolution Soccer 3 cheats, PES 3 cheats"

I told the users once they had reached my website to search for the "Pro Evolution Soccer 3 cheats" using Lycos. There were no cheats for "Pro Evolution Soccer 3 cheats" on my web page so they really had no other option but to try Lycos. This has now raised profit to in excess of £10 ($12) every day. As I am only 14 this a lot of pocket money for me and felt well pleased but a little decieveing towards my visitors.
but never the less its money
this is a single web page on my web site that is making $8 from the lycos scheme :
http://www.cheatextreme.com/PES_3_PS2_Codes_cheats_3.html

Nice going! You have other decent information on your site, which redeems some of your credibility ;) hehe

Is the Lycos program dependent on search keyword? Or is it just 2 cents per search regardless of what they search for?

I have been sending 2-4,000 searches a day to searchfeed through my literature site and I only make $20 a day for that.

chromate

Notice also that's £0.02 GBP. Not $0.02

Still, with 2-4k searches, that would be a considerable increase on your current earnings compared with searchfeed !! :)

chris it does work regardless of what they search for. I found this affiliate scheme at www.tradedoubler.com
you do have to have a UK bank account

That's lucky for me then ;)

HI everyone, just a quick question. I'm living outside UK does that mean i won't get paid for this ad network? And how do i set up a UK bank account if i'm not a resident in UK? Does tradedoubler only wire payment to your bank account? Thanks for replying.

MarkB

It seems you can only take part if you're in the UK.

I signed up, and I've made 0.02p so far! Eat THAT, Chris!! :p

chromate

2p a search isn't bad, it will be different if it was 2p a clickthru though. I think I may also sign up to this program and give it ago.

Does it also have a referral program where I can refer other affiliates and earn a percentage of their earnings?

incka

TradeDoubler does I think. But not the lycos thing itself.

Mike

How much traffic are you getting simon?

Incka thanks for the information about TradeDoubler but I already have tradedoubler listed within my Affiliate Programs Directory.

I just wanted to find out about the Lycos program thru this forum as I thought that it would be easier asking someone if Lycos pays on a 2 tier basis, than having to go to TradeDoubler itself.

Thanks!

So your sometimes getting 2000 uniques a day? Surprised you aren't making more money...

incka

He could sign up tribal fusion with that amount of traffic...

Mike
11-23-2003, 03:48 PM
Could sign up to any ad network really.

kingsimon999
11-24-2003, 12:15 PM
I recieve around 1400 - 2000 in my homepage, but I have about 50 other single web pages which are recieveing 50 - 600 each unique visitors daily. I would say about 10,000 unique visitors daily.
Do you really think I could earn more than £10 a day?
I have only just started with affiliate schemes, about 3 months ago.
I would be ever so grateful if you could tell me any websites or info you know that could help me earn more.

kingsimon999

Incka, is Tribalfusion another pay per click program like lycos? If so how much do they pay?

incka
11-24-2003, 01:14 PM
They are an ad network like burst or fastclick.

Chris is the resident expert, ask him...

Chris
11-24-2003, 05:01 PM
Read the review I linked to.

Tribalfusion is one of the best ad networks out there for banner ads, skyscrapers, leaderboards etc. Fastclick beats them on popunder rates but that is about it. TF can also get you high paying targetted advertising. They are CPM only, not CPC. You get paid for views not clicks.

john190
11-24-2003, 05:41 PM
I'm starting to get interested with Tribulfusion!

To join them do they require that you have over a certain amount of unique hits to your site?

Can you also earn on a CPM basis from using text links or is it just banners and popups?

Chris
11-24-2003, 09:46 PM
They require 1000 uniques a day.

They don't offer text links.

11-25-2003, 03:35 AM
john190, you could also try Burst!Media if you don't have that traffic.

incka

I'm joining burst soon...

My hosting is getting expensive and my traffic is great...

chromate

I wanna join Burst, but they require you use a privacy policy, which I don't have yet and can't be bothered to write.

Anyone know where I can get a free privacy policy that I can adjust? :)

john190
11-25-2003, 12:15 PM
chromate I also don't have a privacy policy. I would also like to have one, but I don't have time to write one at the moment, as i'm wanted alse where.

I just signed up to tribal fusion and waiting for them to review my site.

How much would a playstation 2 cheats website earn from about 4,000 ad impressions daily? Anyone have an idea

How much do you guys earn from adverts?

Mike
11-26-2003, 12:57 PM
It depends weather you go with CPM or whatever. I'm not sure what TribalFusion's average CPM is anyway.

incka
11-26-2003, 12:57 PM
I would ad more cheats so you get more impressions.

kingsimon999
11-26-2003, 02:30 PM
Well I could include it on every page which would rise the impressions to 10,000
but i am just trying it out at the moment

You should convert your site to PHP.

That's what me and Mike are doing with my site...

kingsimon999
11-27-2003, 11:34 AM
Whats PHP?
What are the advantagesof PHP?

john190
11-27-2003, 02:20 PM
incka,

Kingsimon999 doesn't know what PHP is, he doesn't know what he's missing!

My site was all built out of HTML untill I discovered PHP. Once discovered, I learn't it of the Web from using PHP tutorials and forums.

It is one of the newest and fastest growing languages used on the Web today, for website designing. It is an easy language to use and is very dynamic. Another words you can produce one script that can pull data from a MySQL database or another database and produce 1000's of pages just with that one script.

PHP is very powerful and fast.

It's worth looking at and possibly learning it aswell! If you know HTML and other languages, then PHP is simple to learn.

PHP also works well with HTML as you can use HTML and PHP together.

Mike
11-27-2003, 02:41 PM
I couldn't really believe how simple PHP actually is. It's so handy, and for a content site it's a lot quicker than manually adding html pages all the time.

Instead of a 10,000 page site, you could have a three page one:)

incka
11-28-2003, 12:43 AM
And if you order today you get a free george forman hotplate - perfect for soup! ;)

Mike
11-28-2003, 09:20 AM
Well the way I phrased that message just shows how good I think it is then:)

Tired and Achning, I retret from my computer for the briefest of moments to switch the snooker championship, which is utterly uninteresting, off.

incka
12-03-2003, 11:12 AM
So did they accept you?

kingsimon999
12-03-2003, 12:52 PM
I got refused by tribal fusion

They said that my content did not match a advertisers category. They will e-mail me back if there are any new advertisers in that category.

incka
12-04-2003, 12:59 AM
I think it was to do with the lack of similar presentation around your site too...

kingsimon999
12-05-2003, 01:50 PM
whats similar presentation?

incka
12-06-2003, 05:07 AM
The design of your site changes from page to page.

kingsimon999
12-06-2003, 09:55 AM
i am working on that i have finally decided on a design

incka
12-07-2003, 08:18 AM
ok, and get rid of the ads that don't make you money... like the ones for air france...

kingsimon999
12-17-2003, 12:53 PM
noooooo

i got turned down for burst
I need to redesign
its so simple my site

Mike
12-17-2003, 02:14 PM
It might not be the design that pushed Burst off.

incka
12-20-2003, 09:24 AM
Burst said about 1/2 a year ago when I tried to join that games sites were not proforming well.

I think that has changed now...

You'd think so, but you can't. My movie site (http://www.movieforums.com)'s been rejected by TribalFusion more than once, despite the fact that it's reasonably targetted and receives more than twice the traffic they require.

Go figure.

I run pop unders and a single banner position on Survive Outdoors from tribal fusion. The pop unders show up once per user session.

November was about $1.10CPM.
December so far is $1.62CPM.

This is my cut of the earnings.

Don't know. I'm a member of Burst! Media, however, though I realize Tribal Fusion is a bit pickier.

That might be it, though they made no mention of it in their rejection. I simply got the "Our current focus is on developing certain highly targeted categories. Your site's content does not clearly fit into these categories" bit, which I don't buy. A site centered around movies would fit into their "Movies" category rather well, I would think. So a reason like yours is much more likely.

kingsimon999

I think that Tribal Fusion will not tell its applicants the reason why they have turned them down. It sounds weird but fits.

Perhaps they are having problems getting advertisers for that category. Burst denied me 6 months ago because of advertising slow down in the category my site was suitable for.

Mike

I would have thought a category like movies would get a lot of advertisers.

incka

I would too...

I've seen ads for several films while browsing sites about movies...

Also larger game sites on advertising.com get to advertise new pc and playstation games... But they don't advertise on smaller sites & networks...
