You may have noticed that I added a bottom adsense ad to this forum. Adding a bottom adsense ad is a great idea now that adsense is doing CPM ads.

Bottom ads hardly annoy visitors, so you won't get much complaint by adding another, and with CPM they can pay pretty good (as far as bottom ads go). Sure, they won't get many clicks, but even a moderately popular site can earn a couple hundred a month off a bottom adsense placement.

Nice Chris! I really appreciate your approach. It will definitely results in positive outcome. Such Ads positioning really make pleasant appearance of the page for visitors. :)

Should probably blog about this, eh Chris?

Maybe try blogging about a few other placements which are benificial in the entry, too, eh?

Where are you finding the CPM ads at? I can't seem to find them when I log onto my account, do I have to be a preferred advertiser or anything?

the advertisers have to single out your site.

is there not a rule against CPM ads in the footer?

Chris

How can there be? You cannot turn CPM ads on or off with Adsense, you just get them.

Of course, normal ad networks don't allow it, but to my knowledge Google has no rule against it.

Use it while you can then :)

How do you know that you're selected? Do they email you, or does it just show $ from CPM?

Also, how do you know the ads at the bottom are CPM ads if you can't choose?

CPM ads are often images, or ads with big bold text. You can also tell by how often they're shown. If they're shown nearly every page view then they must be CPM as otherwise they wouldn't have the CTR to continue showing.

Last month I was getting a great eCPM for my traffic ($0.40) because of CPM ads so I tried adding another 468x60 at the bottom - it didn't get barley any CPM ads at all so I dropped the idea.

This month my eCPM is back to what it normally is so there is definatly no use.

Thats what those are! I was wondering. Thanks. :)

My Wedding site gets CPM ads occasionally, which helps, as they appear in the header with nice, big letters promoting stuff my members are interested in. Works great (although they're not very common the last week or so).
