Thanks... That's a lot of help for starters... :)

A question though...

It might make me sound stupid, but what you call "impressions" in the A Publisher's Introduction to Internet Advertising article, is that what webalizer calls hits?

No, that is what webalizer calls pages.

A hit is simply a request to your server for any file -- image, css, javascript, movie, whatever.

You might find information about affiliate programs by typing "affiliate programs faq" in google.com.

That's how I first learn't about affiliate programs terms like: cpc, residual income, cpm, etc.

Once I new what they meant, I then started looking for using affiliate and webmaster related forums.

I now that some great affiliate programs to join are ppc search engines as you can earn money from just bidded click thrus. Another words you can earn money without having to sell anything and some of them also tend to have a no minimum/low payout rate.

I find that forums are very helpful.

Here are some good ones:

www.geekvillage.com/forums/
www.sitepointforums.com

And of course websitepublisher.net :)

I wish hits were page views...

I would be having around 25 million page views...

I wonder why my hits are so high...

And I don't think it's files as they are listed seperatly...

If you have lots of real time games then that would result in lots of server hits, I would imagine.
