I decided to test the waters on selling text links on my literature site. I contacted textlinkbrokers.com and asked for a quote. I said I was looking to sell a site wide link with a PR 7 homepage, some PR 7 subpages, hundreds of PR 6 subpages, thousands of PR 5 subpages, and a total of over 30,000 pages. This site wide link can move any page from PR0 to PR7.

They offered me $80 a month.

If thats not a BS rate its definitely a buyers market.

yea I don't see the sense in it from a selling standpoint at all.

Count me in if you are selling for that rate :)

I havent checked for a while, but $80 sounds about right for a PR5 maybe PR6 on homepage only?

Chris, the text link market is dead at the moment. Definately a buyers market. I think you missed the boat by about 12 months.

That was wholesale price they offered you, they probably will turn around and sell for 3 times that much...

With that said..

$30-$100 depending on traffic and placement is going rate from what ive seen for PR7

Pr8 $400-900

PR9 (yes I`ve been offered a few) $1500+

(Per month on all)

Thats one link on a page that likely sells many though. I was offering 30,000 links.

So if i understand this process correctly, all you're doing is contacting textlinkbrokers trying to find someone willing to pay x amount of dollars to post their link on your site for x amount of time? Correct?

You're more or less giving someone a backink on your site to try an increase their PR right?

and provide direct traffic too... but more or less.

Maybe offer them 1 link at a time on each of maybe 10 or 20 pages isntead of a sitewide 30,000 page link.. Or sell yourself on WHT,DNFORUM,NP ?

You could try out www.linkadage.com . It's an auction site for text link ads.

IMO, Adbrite is reliable and reputed ad companies and I think they provide publishers with more revenue and better ads. You should also go through google adsense link units that is a new form of text advertising. You should visit here https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/topic.py?topic=294

I had someone offer me $100/month for a one single link on a PR6 homepage.

Only $80/month for 30,000 links some of which are PR7 ... what a joke! :)

I could only imagine what 30,000 PR7,6,5 links would do for me.
