I'm thinking of purchasing a multi domain hosting account that uses addon domains. Geekhosting.com (recently taken over by siteocity.com) offer 20 domains for $69.95/year.

The price is dramatically lower than buying single domain hosting, but I'm just wondering, is there a catch to this kind of setup?

Go for a reseller's account with another (cheaper) host.

I use Site5.com - great price (no domain limits), GREAT service.

Not so much a catch, but I wouldn't advise using AddOn domains for hosting multiple domains - its no where near as useable as proper reseller hosting that gives you a completely separate account for each domain.

See this thread (http://www.websitepublisher.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3594) for lots of reseller hosting account suggestions.

And welcome to Web pub, I hope you will find it a very useful site!

You can get a reseller account for less than $69.95 per year.

Do you know where? That's an amazing price.

Try HTTPme (http://www.httpme.com/) - 2 GB Disk Space, 20 GB Transfer, 50 Domains, $35.00/month.

I've been there around a year and I think they are great :o

Put in a hosting quote at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/request.php and see what you get offered. Then, do some research on the companies that respond.

There is an issue with add-on domains because of the way they are configured on the server as subdomains of the main domain and the navigation for the add-on domain takes place through redirects to make the URL appear as though it is a stand-alone domain.

Like I said, try Site5.com! Don't feel too bad, most people ignore me :D

I have a reseller account for less than that. Try the haggle option at webcs.com, you can name your specs and then quote your price. Might want to enter that $69 account and see if you can get it for $59 there. Odds are good you will. Think the direct haggle link is still http://www.webcs.com/haggle.html

Don't think they advertise the haggle option, so the link is hidden, but its pretty cool to get exactly what you want.

PS a VPS there is also a possibility, unlimited domains and like a 20 gig disk drive to boot with a CPanel/WHM reseller interface.
