What's with autosurfing?

Ok, so I am a memeber of an investing forum where I keep seeing people playing up autosurfing. So I decided to see what the crap it was and, from what I can see, it is just automatic hits to your website. Now, can anyone correct me if I'm wrong? At any rate, if it is automatic hits to your site, I don't support it at all and can't understand how so many people at that site do.

What do you mean by 'investing forum'? You mean a forum where you talk about what shares to buy, real estate etc? If so I cant see why many would have websites to benefit from this scheme?

maybe it gives you an alexa hit-count boost which you can then use for marketing purposes.

Right, it talks about stocks, real estate, small businesses, websites. Just about everything you would invest in. Though the owner isn't one of those get righ quick people, and neither is a few good people there, there is quite a lot of people who are. I have a feeling this is what is behind the autosurfing thing.

Back in the pay to browse days (when companies would pay you to install software on your computer, like an adbar, and then pay you like 50 cents an hour to surf and view ads) people would run programs like these to make it seem like they were surfing 24 hours a day.

Autosurf traffic is a total waste of time, you will get 10x the signups and click thurs with the same number of banners. IMHO don't waste your money buying autosurf traffic. The price looks good $10 for 100000 page views but all it does is turn your hit counter.
