adsense defaults

how do defaults actually look like? like if I use adsense how would I know if its running defaults or not, is the ad space empty? or are they still serving the ads?

Depends on how you've got it set up.

If you've put a color to default to, then it'll show that, if you've got other ads to fill up the inventory it'll show that, but if you've put nothing for that section, you'll see something that'll be a charity organization.
