Hi Folks,

I'm after some opinions/feedback on which of my sites I should focus on first and work hard to get to a 'somewhat complete' state. I've made a start (and often got the designwork done) on several site ideas, but none makes any kind of sensible cash out of adsense. I do have memberships of a couple of affiliate schemes, which in an ideal world I would also like to earn something out of.

Here are my sites, in order of completelness, with some info about what I had/do plan do do with each one. My reason for asking the group is that this weekend is a bank holiday, and a perfect opportunity to spend some quality time working on *one*. I want to know which one!

1- http://www.4sme.co.uk

"4 Small Medium Enterprise". Not sure if SME is a term used in the rest of the world, but it is quite common in UK business. This site actually has a bit of content, and does receive a bit of traffic from search engines. It also does get the very occasional click thru on adsense adverts. It is British focused (British business is where I've got experience), but most of the princples apply worldwide. There is also a forum, which has had a small amount of 'real world use' ... BUT.... still to be done are :- Many many more articles, better links to amazon for book sales, and possibly better placement of google ads..

2- http://closed-circuit.tv

Back along I installed CCTV at my office. It went well, and the system at the end was pretty cool and useful. This made me wonder if a informational site with commission earning links to cctv on AWS, as well as possibly links to ebay for purchasing kits on there. And of course ye old faithful topical Google adsense adverts pointing mostly to local CCTV/alarm suppliers wherever a user happens to be. This one has had less work on it (as you will see if you have a look). Work to be done :- writing all the articles. Again maybe better adsense usage.

3- http://www.iceadvice.co.uk [also own .com]

ICE (in car entertainment) site. Selling purely ICE items thru AWS or an affiliate scheme if I can find one that is suitable. With articles on installing equipment in your car, safety, choosing a system, buying etc. Maybe also links to ebay again, again relevant Adsense ads. To be done : writing the articles and improving on the poor excuse for an AWS implementation! Basically the whole site needs taking from 'test scripts' to being a real website.

4- http://www.rocktologist.com

This URL was originally registered for a radio show I used to do under the pseudonym of "The Rocktologist" (in case you don't get the joke, search dictionary.com for the word "proctologist")... However I wondered if I could make the site into an AWS site, selling Rock music CDs only. I think there are a lot of sites like this, but I was thinking if I could get a source of lyrics too, also perhaps write more specific articles about bands I actually know something about. Does anybody not think this is "derivitave, done before, likely to make nothing in commission"? I say "not think" as the feedback I have mostly had on this idea is negative.

5- http://www.dont-buy-ebooks.com

The idea was to publish any 'free to distribute' ebooks (not talking about fiction from project gutenburg - more factual stuff like the ones you get about marketing, business, websites etc).. Again, perhaps not an original idea, I mention it only because I have the URL, and have done a little bit of the work.

Ok - what do people think!?

Do any of these sound like they could do a lot better with some more work? Which should I focus on?

For Rocktologist.com, why not have a music history site with bios, discographies, etc or as many rock bands as you can muster. AWS click throughs, Adsense, affiliate links would all add earning potential to something like that :)

Mark - Great idea. Thanks for the thought. That could work really well from people looking for information.... Also it aligns more with the type of music I actually listen to (classic rock).

Thanks!

like http://www.techbooksforfree.com/ (which consequently is this site's biggest referrer.)

I would probably focus on the first one and maybe the CCTV one next.

Ok, so i shall focus on www.4sme.co.uk and write some more articles for that.. Does anybody support purchasing content in that context then? Or would I be better to just sit down and write more? Also, with the one ad banner at the top, am I doing the best I can with regards to converting traffic to google clicks? Again- could I be smarter on this one?

Crazy thought - Should I remove all ads until content is fuller??

Finally - the forum on 4sme.. Has had ... not much traffic. But it has had some 'real' use. Any thoughts on how I could push more people to it?

Thanks..

Alex
