Lets say I have a content site and I created an AWS site with products related to my content site and Linked to my AWS site from the content site. Would linking to the AWS site hurt my content site's page rank and if so would it be a lot?

Well, people have the belief that if you link to any page it's leaking PR from that page.
If you're worried about it, just use rel="nofollow"

My content site would get hit for duplicate content if I link to an aws site?

If you link to the site you will lose a small amount of PR from the content site.

If you link back to the content site you could lose PR depending on the dampening factor and the ratio of PR between the two sites. The lower site would gain PR, the higher site would lose PR, and they would be an overall slight lowering of PR from the dampening factor.

You may also expose yourself to the (remote) risk of a penalty if a human reviews your sites and finds that you own both and they decide to make an example out of you for using a datafeed.
