Lately I have been doing loads of keyword research using Wordtracker (http://www.wordtracker.com) and Overture keyword tool (http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/)

I was just wondering what everyone else uses? Or if there's any other tools out there I should be using...

Well, you could use Digital Point's keyword tool (http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/). It just lists both sets of results from the two tools you listed, but may save time :)

Then theres this tool (http://123promotion.co.uk/ppc/) that gives more info.

This tool (http://uv.bidtool.overture.com/d/search/tools/bidtool/) may also be useful for PPC bids.

This page (http://www.seocompany.ca/tool/seo-tools.html) also has a whole host of general SEO tools, but particularly a section in the middle on keywords.

I use overture and wordtracker. Wordtracker more accurate results. In my opinion their premium service is well worth the money.

I use word tracker, but only the free version. All I need is the totals then I can do my own analysis.

Thanks guys :)

Yeah I only use the trail for wordtracker. I have noticed some huge differences between the results I get from overture and wordtracker. For example, the term "bench press". Overture says it had over 11k searches in May, whereas wordtracker says its only had 350.

Any Idea why that is?

They measure things slightly differently I believe, plus they also have different amounts of data - I think Wordtracker will always be lower than Overture because they use less users' data.

One measures plurals etc as the same thing.

wordtracker has changed the way it measures the keyword popularity. I don't know what it used to use, but now I think it only uses dogpile and some other engine and it is returning far fewer results than it used to.

One example of a phrase I was tracking about 18 months ago had the count at 499, but the same phrase today is 102.

I don't think wordtracker is as good as what it used to be.

However, the problem I find with overture is that they parse the terms, they don't show plurals (in some of my areas anyway) and they also rearrange words in a term. I would rather see the unparsed results in the exact arrangement of words. except maybe when this is very clearly not the best way to do it.
