My friend and I were partnered in the Strange Facts site about a year ago when it was started. Well, what happened was he quit doing anything with it and I did all the work so I bought him out. The problem is, the adsense account was in his name. I went in to change all of the information and it let me change the mailing address but not the payee name. Is there any way that this can be done?

Can you get them to pay it into your bank account? Would that get around the problem?

I would set up a new Adsense account anyway, and replace the ads on your site with the new ones, so it is all in your name from now on.

Remeber to cancel your current account first, the account you are currently using will do you no good since your partner's name will be on the checks.

Well, I dont just want to give up the 40 bucks I have on the account though. I think what I will do is wait for the check to come to me, have him cash it, and then get the money from him and make a new account.

You could always email their support, requesting it be changed.

I thought about that too, you dont think they would think it was some kind of scam and shut down the account do you?

No, as long as you explain the situation there should be no problem. They'll probably require more than just 'your word for it', though.

In order to protect your account, the payee name cannot be changed. Our program policies also do not allow the transfer of accounts. If you need to change your payee name for any reason, please contact adsense-support@google.com. Our specialists will be able to cancel your current account so that you may submit a new application with your updated payee information.
Ouch. Looks like you'll need to do the thing with the check...

Ah, thats ok. He is good for it, he just wouldn't work on a site.

Yea but its not like I'm not going to reimburse him for the taxes. It wont be too much and I planned on that anyway.
