View Full Version : Fastclick Changes Referral Program

Fastclick, in a dubious move, announced that they'd no longer pay lifetime commissions but rather only 12 months. Their reasoning is that they want to reward people who active refer new members.

Their reasoning is flawed, all this does is hurt anyone who refers people to them and it makes people want to refer Casale media and other companies more.

Honestly, advertising referrals are one of the few ways this site makes money, so this news is very disappointing to me. Especially considering most people take a few years to really get a popular site I imagine my fastclick referral income to eventually drop drastically.

So, on that note, join Casale Media.

This is bad news!!! I can't believe it.

Man, that's horrible of them to do.

I was going to try and sign up to their network when I started getting some better traffic, but I don't think I want to anymore if they'll introduce things like this.

Sorry bout how this'll effect WP, Chris.

Are they doing this to all of your existing referals, or just new ones?

Westech, Yes it does include all existing referals, so after 12months you'll loose them.

That doesn't seem fair at all. The people promoting Fastclick invested a level of time and money into refering people based on their expected return from lifetime commisisions.

I'm sure FC has something in their contract to cover them on this, though. :(

This has to be horrible for FC's business. I know of a site that earned over $20k a month off fastclick. A friend of mine does occassional crucial web work for this business, and referred them to fastclick. The 5% he earned was his pay.

After this happened, this business moved to Casale. FUDGE FASTCLICK!

Yeah, man. Casale must be loving this so damn much.

About 2 years ago, ValueClick Media made this same move and effectively killed our referral program in the process. We would love to get some publishers back into our referral program. We have changed the program to have negotiable payment terms (percentages and duration). If anyone is interested in setting up a referral program with ValueClick feel free to contact us through htmlhelp@valueclick.com. Be sure to include 'vclk' in the subject line.

Alternatively, you can leave me a voice mail at 818.575.4623. I’ll be out of the office next week but will get you hooked up with the right people when I get back.

Why not a referral program for CJ?

I thought they had one? Hmm I'm actually suprised at CJ's success without a referral program.

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot! What a bad move FastClick's made here. Especially considering Casale's rates are so much better anyway (for me at least).

wouldn't you know it, as of today I broke 1k in referral income with fastclick. This is the first month i've done that (flirted with 900 before) now I guess its all down hill.

Guess I will not be sending any refferals to FastClick. It's sad to see a good company go bad for short term profits.

They did have one, but I think they stopped accepting affiliate applications about a year or two ago.
