I'll be on vacation the 6th-15th. Going back to Jamaica. Try not to start any fires.

"No problem" James said, as he slowly withdrew a firebomb (molitove cocktail) from behind him with one hand, and held a lighter in the other.

Have a good trip, Chris. :)

Getting some exotic jamaican 'flowers' are we? :)

They'll do nicely in the basement with the grow lights Chris mentioned ;)

Have a good one though. You likely to earn enough while you are away to pay for the holiday?

Well, I hope you've kept the fridge stocked, Chris, cos I'm hungry.

Don't worry, the forum might be suddenly very revolutionary and left wing by the time you get back, but that's just the courses forums go during elections...

Chris why don't you appoint some temporary Fire Wardens (moderators) while your gone.

I reckon Westie, James, MarkB, Chromate, R2D2 are mature enough to handle the forum while your gone. I'd say Generalissimo too but his post count is pretty low [joke].

Yep, and especially with his large metallic pipe connecting the basement to the roof, the room for leaves all up his staircase (just for decoration ;)) and the chickenwire, along with orange circular fertalizing pellets for the plants to grow in.

I spent a summer hanging around in a house for a period as it was being fixed when our renters decided to become 'gardeners'.... what do you expect from BC renters, I guess..?

Cool. You should have gone to Cuba though, or is there a ban on travel to their in your hegemonious nation currently?

No, I've never wrote that Cuba is awesume until I made this post just now. But it is, you American's don't know what you're missing, just because your nation is so hegemonious it doesn't want a non-american state in the Americas, if there wasn't the blockade (which really the sanctions on Cuba are), Cuba would be thriving in relation to similar states in the area that chose the american model, so the USA puts embargos on Cuba to stop this, and promotes Jingoism in it's population for it's policies. You might be thinking, well wouldn't the media report this, the answer is because the media get the majority of their funds for advertisers, and the advertisers want this embargo on Cuba as they want all the other countries to believe a globalist capitalist economy is best, so the people who are advertising can exploit those countries.

moonshield: no :) Read Peter Moore's 'The Full Montezuma' (http://www.mahke.com/archives/2005/04/the_full_montez.html) if you can find it - he writes that the Cubans are some of the friendliest people in central america :)

heh, and the Cubans in Miami are considered unfriendly, guess thats why they move to the US! :)

Generalissimo

The Cubans in Miami are mostly those who left because they were capitalist business owners. They have attacked Cuba is CIA help often, and dropped propoganda on the island. Eventually Cuba had enough of the propoganda being dropped and shot down one of the planes doing it.

People jumping on rafts to escape Cuba, at great personal risk, is probably the best indicator of the quality of life there.

What's Jamaica like, Chris?

Mike

Yeah I've always wondered what that would be like, a few friends have been but I never have.

And why is there that poor quality standard? Because of the US embargo.

You do realize, don't you, that if you lived in Cuba you would not be allowed to own and operate your website publishing business? This would be true with or without the US embargo.

Generalissimo

I know that. And I support it. I feel the best sociatal form is socialist-libertarianism. I would happily give up my website publishing business for a social change which would be fairer for everyone.

Chris

You're weird Sean. I've seen you post before about how much you want more money, very capitalist, and then you have these socialist attitudes. No offense, but in my opinion you're just regurgitating opinions of those you respect (parents, teachers, etc) as you're too young to have formed a real educated opinion on such issues.

None of my parent and teachers that I know of have any socialist leanings.
