View Full Version : google adsense - not counting all the pageviews?

I'm noticing some bizarre behaviour with my adsense figures and was wondering if anyone had any similar experience...

I've got ads running on sites like http://www.financemaps.com and http://www.counterweights.ca - both of which saw significant traffic increases (awstats says pages increased 300%+ for counterweights) in april but my adsense page impressions actually went down during this period? how can this be? I've got adsense ads on all of these pages that are being hit...?

any ideas would be very much appreciated...

Hi woollymammoth, try adding a defaut ad to your AdSense code and make some money from all those visitors :).

I thought you could only add a default image, not a clickable ad? how do you set up a default?

You need to provide the url of an HTML file containing your default code. Make sure the ad code in that html is aligned top and left, and that you remove and margins or padding.

For example - ski-review.com/ads/google_adsense_728.html

Then just add this as the alternate ad url when setting up your adsense code.

Thanks Dan, it works perfectly. Also I had never seen searchfeed.com before until I saw it on your defaults. How happy are you with them vs. google?

I am lucky enough not to show many PSA's or Google defaults so the Searchfeed revenue is as minimal as the page impressions are. I may experiment one day by reversing the chain so-to-speak but in this particular type of implementation Adsense is regarded as a higher tier.

However, Searchfeed are quite flexible in that they have lots of different ways of integrating their content with your own so if you sign up do explore the options.
