I have a few MP3 files that I want to merge into one MP3 file, what program can I use to do this. I am prepared to pay upto $30.

you could get an older copy of SoundForge on eBay for about that much. That program would allow you to do it very easily. (Sound Forge XP)

Must have moved to NYC, I was reading Stupid White Men recently and it definatly said he lived in Michigan...

How are your new sites going?

sites online now are doing fine... I have 5 really big sites that are taking up all my time. They all should be comming out this month along with maybe 10 smaller sites. This will be an exciting month.

Moore has a home in Flint, MI (I think), and in NYC (although I don't think he spends much time in Michigan anymore... who'd want to?:P)

especially in Flint. The unemployement rate is like 19%

You might wanna look at Chris' location in his profile before saying that ;)

For some reason I thought he lived in Virginia.

How's your 2005 Challenge going Mark, I see UKGov isn't in your sig now...

It's going badly. Since the end of January, I've been so busy at work (building websites!) that I don't want to think about it when I get home!

And sadly, for the same reason UK Gov has suffered (even though now is the best time for it to be updated regularly).

Hopefully things at work will quieten down around June...!

That MP3 merger makes two files with a total size of 6.47mb into one 52.3mb file... Any idea how I can make it less than 10mb?

I'm not familliar with that particular program, but look for a setting to turn down the quality or the sample rate. That should result in a smaller filesize.

you will have to download the LAME MP3 Encoder.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq?s=install&item=lame-mp3

currently you are exporting as a .wav.

I don't know, but that is how it works for me.

Well the thing is 56 minutes long, but it's just Steven Hawking talking...

i dont know. I have never dealt with files that long before.

how long are the two files? typically an mp3 @ 128kbps = 1 mb/minute. so 52mb for 56 minutes seems just about right

Generalissimo

They are about half that each, so 28 minutes.

i don't know how one of them is 6.47 mb then, unless it's really low quality. anyway, 52 mb seems to be the right size...

If you listen to them you can't tell the difference. It just a computer-generated voice.

For just voice, you should be able to knock it down to 64kbps or less. Try finding the setting somewhere in the prog you are using for bitrate or quality, or also take it down to 22KHz rather than 44.1KHz.

16kbps is what is is on on both things.

I found bit rate, but and reduced it from 266 or something to 22, but it reduced the time as well, as the chapter took 6 minutes instead of 56, and I can't take in info that fast...
