I am installing a hardwood floor next week in my kitchen. the living room is connected but with carpet. I will have a transition area that is about 7 ft in length and cannot find any premade transition that long. Any thoughts? I am thinking of just stapling the carpet to the subfloor tight to the end of the hardwood then either making something or buying 1/2" quarter round to put on the edge. It seems there should be a better way. Open to any and all suggestions. Thanks!

Can you share a photo how you have done this?

Thank you for sharing the idea. And what is the height difference? I am thinking of a carpeted floor or buying some rugs from rugsdoneright.com (https://www.rugsdoneright.com/collections/manufacturer-surya-rug-co). I like how the rugs look, and the room seems to be more sophisticated with them, but it will be easier to maintain the floor clean with a carpeted floor. By installing a carpeted floor, I will need only a good vacuum cleaner, but I will need a vacuum cleaner and a good mop with rugs. Can you share your expertise and say what is better from your point of view?
