I also have this question. I recently started to use macOS, and on this operating system, there isn't VLC, the video player I used on my Windows computer. I had to find an alternative, and I found a similar software to VLC called OmniPlayer. I like it, but I don't like that now I have to get used to it. The design of the software isn't easy to understand because it seems to me that the buttons are arranged randomly on the screen if compare with VLC. But this is not such a big problem, and I think I will fastly get used to it.
