Whose going to win? I think the Patriots are going to wipe the floor with the Eagles. It is not even going to be close.

Final Score: Patriots 41 Eagles 7

Yep. 30 seconds for something like $2.5 million.

Yeah http://www.bobparsons.com/index.php?/archives/13-Go-Daddys-Super-Bowl-Story.html, I wouild be interested to see it. They seem to have some new low prices to coincide with the superbowl. I'd be interested to see the ad.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing what Godaddy comes up with. I read that it's supposed to air during the first quarter.

As for my prediction, I pretty much agree with thepoorman and incka:
Patriots: 45
Eagles: 10
Gadaddy: -1.5 million

I predict that Go Daddy won't make back what they paid for the ad.

Q. Do you expect to earn your investment back?
A. Not immediately and maybe never. What the Super Bowl ad will do is to lay the ground work for better recognition of our follow up campaign.

I think what he is probably aiming for is for people to think 'Go Daddy' as soon as they think of domain names. Establish themselves as the 'Hoover', 'Google' or 'Walkman' of the domain name market... Perhaps even let people know that they can actually buy domain names - a lot of people probably think they are expensive and only companies can afford them.

Back to the football - Super Bowl is American football right? - yep, I think the Patriots will win :)

I always thought it was baseball, but then what do I know...

I was in the US for the 2000 Super Bowl, watched it on TV and it was a big let down. Though, the Americans seemed to agree. :) So it was probably just a bad one.

I always thought it was baseball, but then what do I know...

Baseball has the 'World' Series doesnt it?

When I was in America, we were going to watch a football game, but someone advised us that it is very long and very slow game. Judging from what Bob Parsons said:

It will be the third spot during the fourth commercial break, after the game starts. We’re assured it will be in the 1st quarter of the game.

Four commercial breaks in one quarter of the game!!! Thats nuts.

$2.4m * x adverts per break * 4 breaks per quarter * 4 quarters is a lot of cash though :)

Notice the inverted commas around world. Its called the World Series but is only for American teams I believe... Im sure I heard a comedian use this fact in part of his show somewhere.

Football in my opinion is an exciting game, both to watch on tv and be at the game. Now soccer, there is a boring game to watch ;) but it is awesome to play.

What the hell is that supposed to mean? I would ask you to back up that ridiculous statement, but I really don't want to start up a political flame war.

Why is it that you're always the first one to complain (http://websitepublisher.net/forums/showthread.php?p=25783#post25783) about people posting political comments when you disagree with them but still feel the need to post outrageous claims like the one above?

Oh come on, that's not political, it's a common anecdote...

In what way is it anecdotal?

Anecdote. Very short story or humourous comment. That was an anecdote. It was not political.

I think you need to check your definition

dictionary.com says

"A short account of an interesting or humorous incident."

it isn't just a humerous comment

I would have tried your dictionary site but it wasnt responding ;)

Now I'm curious as to how many of you Brits have seen an american football game? I'm assuming that they don't broadcast the Superbowl over there?

To be fair, I've never watched a cricket game. I have the general idea that they roll a ball and hit it with a flat stick, but that's about it. :)

I watched the superbowl whilst in the US. To be honest, I prefer rugby :)

I predict a War of the worlds Trailer during the half time show, and no wardrobe malfunctions.

MarkB

Westech, they bowl a ball - but not like you do at bowling. Basically its an overarm toss, which can be altered by using a combination of speed and spin. Quite a cool game, as long as you're bowling or batting. Otherwise its boring :p

And I've seen quite a few american football games - I never liked how each team is basically split into two halves (offense and defense, right?), but it IS enjoyable to watch. Any Given Sunday (the movie) gave me more of an understanding of it.

I'd love to see a full baseball game, too.

Baseball is good - we saw a game when we were in Canada a few years ago. Shame we can't get more of it on the TV over here. The attention span needed is much shorter than that for cricket (particularly for the 5 day games :) )

I think its fair to say that the American Football 'craze' never really took off over here in the UK.

football (american) games are awesome live, I love having a team in town only 25 min away. I have been too like 16 games.

You guys should try Australian Rules Football. Go to http://www.afl.com.au for more info.

PS. And no, it isn't rugby. That's a different game altogether ;)

How long is a quarter/or how long is the game in total?

It looks like ITV is showing the game live tonight, which is strange as I thought only Sky was showing it. Anyone know if they will show the US adverts or just UK ones?

moonshield
02-06-2005, 07:04 AM
Quarters are 15 min, so a game is 60 min, but because of breaks it takes 3 hours.

I think they will show UK adverts - a lot of the US ones wouldnt be relevant to the UK. Plus its a different company broadcasting it, so they will have their own advertising setup.

thepoorman: Thanks, makes sense time wise.

Its confusing the way the website makes it sound like the ad wasn't allowed, I thought it was the case but it appears just to be part of the ad campaign. I don't like the ad nor the extended version, certainly doesn't make me think that Godaddy will get a good image from it.

That is what I am thinking to. Question: Who are they trying to appeal to? Not the entire world it seems. Looks to me like a poor move.

Next year I am going to get me a super bowl ad ;)
