I’ve come up to the thought that affiliate marketing has its pros and cons.
Well, the advantages are:
- more exposure;
- more sales.
On the other hand you will face the commission costs: costly set up and maintenance fees that are associated with a lot of affiliate facilitators.

May be its worth generating own affiliate program to be able to track affiliate leads?

This is a classic to outsource or not question.

Affiliate companies should be good at what they do and manage the program while you get on with developing your product. If you can do it better and cheaper then them and not loose focus on your business then do it yourself

Outsourcing is best. Affiliate networks gain more exposure for your affiliate program (you get more affiliates) and they handle payments/tax etc.
