I think someone else used to own my IP.

I have thousands of requests like this in my logs:

61.223.163.79 - - [16/Jan/2005:08:29:18 -0700] "GET /ourbt/tracker.php?info_hash=%98gq%83%92X%07%95%CF%BA%3F% 81%F5%7Br%FFTr%D6%BC&peer_id=exbc%008%FE1%8C%09%E8%83%A85F%AC%2BZT%0C&port=8384&natmapped=1&localip=192.168.0.173&uploaded=0&downloaded=0&left=36438016&numwant=200&compact=1&no_peer_id=1&key=7407&event=started HTTP/1.0" 404 215 "-" "BitTorrent/3.4.2"

A quick Google Search turns up this:

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2004-44,GGLD:en&q=%2Fourbt%2Ftracker%2Ephp

Yes, that IP is mine.

The question is, what do I do about this? Do I figure out a way to block it based on user agent (keep server load down). Do I try to harness it? Redirect it?

Or ask your host to provide a clean IP.

Could the server be trying to update something using bittorrent?

I don't think there's a way to get that many sites to remove it. So either block them all, redirect them to some page that'll somehow be profital, or just leave it.

Or, change your IP! :)
