when signing up for affiliates it ask's for the name to put on the check, the problem is that I dont have a credit card/bank account because Im not old enough to obtain one. So if I put my name in, and a cheque comes in with my name can my dad cash it in? or do I need my own bankaccount?

You are not old enough to have a bank account? I have had a bank account since I was about 5 years old (i'm now 21). I didn't know there are age limits...

In many places you can get an account if your parents names are on it, and you should be able to put the check in the bank yourself.

I ment like a visa/credit card, I can get a debit, bank account which is shared with my dad, so will I need that to cash in, does my name in the bank have to be the same for the name on the cheque?

I'm pretty sure that you need to have the same name as the name on the check. Or else people would be able to cash stolen checks.

I really don't understand what the reason you can't just cash it yourself is, though.

Well, if just to be able to cash checks with less hassle I'd get one. Even if you could get other people to cash them for you.

There's something I've heard before, like signing the back of a check lets them cash it or something... I don't quite remember though. Also, many banks have different policies, so you're probably best to just go to their site and seeing if there are any ways.

Get a standard debit bank account - Im surprised you dont have one already.

Thats how I'll be paying checks in, and Im 24.

With cheques, I think its OK for the cheque to say 'Pay B. Smith' if you were called Brian Smith... So has to be fairly close..

No, open a bank account in your own name. Why don't you already have one? Like I said, I have had mine since I was 5 (I'm now 21) - so I've had my account for sixteen years.

If your name is on the cheque, anyone else can still cash it unless it says "non-negotiable". BTW, "visa/credit cards" have nothing to do with cashing cheques.

Cheers...

I doubt that is true. I am sure you will be able to open a standard bank account - just get your parent/s to go along with you when you open it.

You should be able to get a basic bank account/savings account from any age. You can deposit checks in them but its not the same as a full banking account/current account which let you write checks. I've paid in checks into my savings account when I was under 18.

You should be able to do everything when you are under 18, except borrow money. You should be able to get a standard bank account under 18. Emancipator is Canadian isnt he? Can you help here?

I'm from Canada and I've had a bank account since a young age. Royal Bank even has a special account for people under 19 that has no service charges.
