Depends who you are targetting. Since your from NC, I'm assuming US politics. Do you want people from multiple viewpoints, are are you only targetting say Democrats?

If you want lots of posts in your forum, make sections on controversial topics, Guns, Abortion, Immigration, Foreign Policy, etc. Although it seems guns stirs up the most "debate" (otherwise known as flame wars.)

If you want a serious and civilized forum plan on being a full-time moderator (or hiring a few.)

thank, yes its US politics.
In the forum, do you think it would fill up fast with about 18 topics. I just dont want it to be too spread out

I am trying to provide an objective view of policy. So I am trying to stay moderate. I am providing however a section for opinion, plus the forum termed 'opinion board'.

18 might be a a little too much to begin with, but if you have enough posters it will be fine.

I don't have any experience running a forum but I have participated in many over the years.
