I don't know if anyone here uses the Gimp (http://www.gimp.org/), but a new version of it should be out shortly. The pre-release version of it is already available for download.

If you are looking for a free image editing program, this is one of your few options. Its a far cry from Photoshop but it beats the hell out of paint :p

Here are some screenshots (http://developer.gimp.org/screenshots.html) of the latest version.

I use the gimp quite a lot at work, just wish it would put all your open pics in its window like you have in photoshop etc.. Maybe theres an option?

well, the new version will add some greatly needed features. A word of Advice: Only use GIMP in Linux, GTK+ in Windows is quite poor.

I've used it in Windows without any problems.

but have you used it with linux? There IS a world of diference. It seems to be built for the Linux desktop.

No, I don't think my linux box would handle it (which hasn't been turned out in about a year anyways.) How do you think it will run with Knoppix?

is it not already included?

It may be, I haven't used Knoppix for a good year and a half.

Gimp is included on Knoppix but if I remember correctly there are multiple
versions of Knoppix now ?

I'm using Gimp alot on windows, no problems here you need to get
used to the way windows are displayed though.
