The primary reason why SSL is used is to keep sensitive information sent across the Internet encrypted so that only the intended recipient can access it. This is important because the information you send on the Internet is passed from computer to computer to get to the destination server.

If your website doesn't collect sensitive data, like credit cards or social security numbers, you may not have needed an SSL certificate in the past. However, with the new browser notifications, it's now essential to ensure every website has an SSL certificate and is loaded via HTTPS.

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. Any computer can see your important credential information like Credit Card numbers, phone numbers, and passwords. To prevent this, we need an SSL Certificate. With SSL Certificate all this information is hidden and is no more readable by the computer.

After installing an SSL certificate, you’ll see a lock with https:// protocol right at the beginning of your domain name.

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral.

SSL Certificates are small data files that digitally bind a cryptographic key to an organization’s details. When installed on a web server, it activates the padlock and the https protocol and allows secure connections from a web server to a browser.
