Data in this report is two days out of date, and it's fair to say that the metrics here are limited in scope. If you're managing a busy website, Traffic Sources simply won't give you the detail you need to properly analyze your queries and landing pages; the number of results it can show is limited, for example.

Essentially, while Analytics tells you what users do once they arrive on your site, Search Console shows you how your site performs in search results. For the purposes of uncovering 'Not Provided' keywords, Search Console is actually able to provide a unique service that Analytics does not.

"(Not provided)" is the label you see in Google Analytics reports instead of actual keywords that drive visitors to your site.

The main reason why it happends is that Google processes requests via the so-called secure (encrypted) search. Thus, nearly 80% of your keyword data is now hidden under "not provided".

That creates a huge challenge for SEOs — who are now cut off from access to crucial keyword data.

Although there's no 100% accurate method to substitute this data, some methods can work pretty well.
