According to Zonealarm i have been attacked 11,400 at last cheack (9.22pm) in one day. I am seriously worried, what should i do? I have scanned for viruses and used search and destroy, nothing. Please help.

I have broadband.

A firewall could be a start;)

I haven't got broadband at the moment, but even when it does come into my area, i'm not sure I will get it with all the recent problems etc.

I haven't had any problems (touch wood;)) with it, but try getting trial versions of Norton or McAfee if you want some alternatives.

a hardware firewall would be a good first start.

Get a cable/dsl router -- most have those built in.

Try not to panic! :) A lot of the detections will be perfectly innocent. Don't know too much about zone alarm but if you can trace them I would imagine that a lot of them will be coming from your isp.

Also, the fact that zone alarm has actually detected them is a good sign.

I use McAfee fire wall and Sygate. Sygate is free for personal use I think. It works really well and once you install they have a pretty good website that will test it all out and make sure you're secure. Nothing's perfect, but sygate's better than nothing :)

You might also want to check out BlackIce Protection.

You can also try Kerio Firewall software.
Free for personal use. I stopped using Zone Alarm since it hogged lot of CPU.

I can't get onto MSN and IE sometimes doesn't work. Netscape still does when IE doesn't. Zone Alarm tells me I'm being attacked by AOL IP addresses quite often although I don't have any AOL software on my PC expect Netscape which is owned by AOL, but I wasn't using it at the time...
