For those interested and who still care looks like we have had a backlink update on G.

Yes. I saw it a couple hours back. My News site got over 2k backlinks. Has there been a SERP change. I noticed I am on the 4th page for "Wacky News". I am trying to get #1. Going to try and beat a PR7 site and a site with 2,500 backlinks.

I just noticed that I have have the words "wacky news" in the title, and in the anchor text on which people linked to me. I have poorly optimized this site. I must try and optimize it since it has been up for about 3 months now.

Yes, there has DEFINITELY been a serp change.
The shopping section on my site is literally 3 to 4 times more traffic than it was yesterday. Truly, I'm so amazed and happy.

Ohh... been busy all day... lets see what DP has to tell me.

Well most of my sites lost listed backlinks. But I'm not seeing more SERP movement than usual on the terms I monitor.

Ditto, just a change in backlink numbers (lost a few) for me.

to find backlinks in google it is 'link:site.com' right? Most sites I type in dont have any back links but I know for a fact they do. Whats up with that?

Seems they have backtracked on it, or things are taking a while to settle down as I am back to my old figure.

Some up, some down.

It makes no difference to me currently, though building backlinks (and therefore hopefully more PR) is always good for when I need it.

Apparently PR has been updated in the G directory - hope its not indicative...

yep, it is now reverted, backlinks are now showing what they were pre-update.

The directory has certainly changed, and not for the good (for me anyway) :(

this isnt uncommon, give it a couple days to settle, you know how google is.

Major SERPs + allinanchor update tonight.

I'm showing major increases for all search terms that I've targetted.

My shopping traffic went from ~400 uniques a day to 1800 uniques on Saturday.
Sunday was then 1900, and Monday was 1900.

With rolling updates, Google indexes new content on Survive very quickly. This traffic jump is not because of the addition of new content. I really can't explain it.

It took me exactly 6 months for me to start ranking for major terms that I've targetted.

Domain was registered April 12 -- homepage was indexed and in Google on April 18 -- I appear in the top 200 for a major term that I targetted on October 18, yesterday.

So, I was quick to jump to a conclusion of a SERP update -- it looks as if the site has simply reached the age where Google doesn't consider it new.

From the time I put up the shopping section, it took 4 days to get indexed and get traffic. The traffic was 300-400 unique hits for exactly 6 days. The 6th day was this past Saturday, where it spiked to 1800 unique hits.

I guess what I'm getting at is, the fresh content boost did not apply here. It was actually the reverse.

My shopping section has only been online about 2 weeks.

Jaffro

Yea i'm still seeing a lot of 'shuffling'. I do wonder whats going on as google hasn't appeared to do any major updates for a while and perhaps this shuffle is pre to a major update or change ish.

I only have about 437 backlinks to my site indexed in Google--though there should probably be more than that seeing as all my forums signatures have it in them and I make quite a few posts in forums.

Dan Morgan

Okay so its jumped again, this time good for all but one of the sites I am tracking.
