I ordered a domain from Godaddy yesterday and paid with paypal through Godaddy's system with no problems. I can't even load up the Paypal site now, though.

im really happy at the moment i dont rely on paypal for any of my orders. But it does annoy me since I owe the Chris'man some moolah.

Why don't they just roll-back the coding update they made? I have domains that have run out because I couldn't renew them with PayPal. Will just have to use a CC tonight :(

I haven't missed out on anything yet, but I have several clients who pay me with a monthly paypal subscription (autobill.) I'm wondering how much longer these problems will go on and if they'll affect these payments.

I was seriously thinking about ditching Paypal as a payment option even before this latest problem. It seems that every few months they cancel a random subscription and I have to contact the client to restart it. I'm sure this doesn't make me look very professional.

What are the alternatives though? Money bookers? Too complicated for me and I don't like the darkness of their design.

The alternatives are to bite the bullet and get a real merchant account, or to use a service like 2checkout. Both of these options are more expensive than Paypal, and I hate to do it when such a small number of my clients want to pay online. Most of them are non-technical people who prefer to snail mail a check each month.

Imagine what kind of havoc this is causing for Ebay auctions.

I don't see how I can use this to send money to designers, etc.

You can't. I was referring to receiving credit card payments only.

I don't really do that currently, I will be by december though as part of a content site that will also sell related merchandice... I'm working on the content for it now, and I've got a non-webmaster friend working on it also...
